The Best toy for any Man March 10, 2010 Bobbie J. Allen This remote is truely awsome, it does it all. Easy to program, and easy to use, even my wife can work it, NOW THAT IS REALLY AMAZING! the price was good and the value was even better
My wife no longer throws a fit about all the remotes March 8, 2010 K. Gilmore Before the Harmony, my wife got frustrated while trying to figure out which remotes she needed to use when she wanted to say, watch a dvd with surround sound. It is not her fault, it was just complicated. I debated for a long time because of the cost and one day, after another episode, I decided we should give it a try. I was overwhelmed with simplicity of the set-up and how easy it is to use. I have the following devices: TV, DVD, DVD w/surround sound, Dish network, and WII. Now she can push one button and use the blueray player while using the amplifier on the other dvd player and the tv automatically changes to the right input. It's amazing.
Incredibly powerful remote, takes some learning March 7, 2010 CG (Burlington, KY USA) I have a lot of different AV equipment and this remote covers it all. It takes some time to figure out how to customize certain things, but the remote will do anything you need it to. You have to invest the time to learn if you have many devices and activities. No other remote comes close, well worth it.
nice but not always connecting to all my devices March 6, 2010 AJ (Washington DC)
Feels nice to hold. Works reasonably well except it does not always turn off all my devices. I, and my family, are many times reappling the off command to turn off all devices. That's is the biggest issue I have with this thing. I have day dreamed about getting a newer Logitech device that would turn everything off reliably. Perhaps...
This could be so much better! March 5, 2010 Jonathan Flower (Texas) 0 out of 8 found this review helpful
I don't understand why I cannot find a decent remote! I bought this thing hoping it would be the ultimate remote, and don't get me wrong, this thing is really cool. I just don't understand why a >$100 remote depends on infrared to transmit signals to my TV! "The first remote intended to control a television was developed by Zenith Radio Corporation in 1950." 1950!!! It has been 60 years and I still have the problem of something blocking the IR signal of my remote and I have to deliberately point the remote at the TV! This problem has been solved with things like Bluetooth remotes, RF remotes, and Wifi remotes.
Solution:
Sony Playstation 3 Blueray remote connected to Mac computer. Mac receives bluetooth signal, Remote Buddy Software and iRed2 Software process the signal and an IRtrans, IR transmitter, sends the signal to my entertainment system. I never have to point the remote at the TV again! Everything is customizable and I can watch Internet Videos through things like Hulu and Boxee.
Kicker:
The Harmony remote is noticeably slower than the setup above.
